37th Service Battalion: Since 2002 the 37th Service Battalion has collected more than $25,000 a year mainly through its annual mid-November food drive.
Belbins: Belbin's Grocery store and their customers have been year-round supporters of the Community Food Sharing Association since 1992. Their generosity and caring is particularly focused at Christmas when they donate hundreds of turkeys for hungry families and individuals.
For the last 15 years, around mid November, Canada Post, its employees and retired workers in St. John's have provided volunteer services to collect food for the local foodbanks.
Through the power of radio, television, and the internet, the CBC Network in Newfoundland and Labrador has become a major sponsor providing effective public exposure and collecting more that 6.000 turkeys annually through the CBC Christmas Turkey Drive.
Dominion Stores: As a part of the Loblaws organization, Dominions Stores are a major sponsor of the Community Food Sharing Association. Included in their support are two food drives annually. The value of their support cannot be measured in food alone which help the CFSA feed of many people in need. Dominion stores also generate a great deal of invaluable public awareness and media exposure.
Downtown Santa Clause Parade: Beginning in 1992 the organizers of the very popular St. John's Santa Claus parade have provided much needed publicity and an excellent forum for the collection of food and money to help feed hungry people across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Newfoundland Oil and Gas Industry: Collectively the Oil and Gas Industry in the province, through their annual March food drive and other initiatives have, since 2002, raised more than $500,000 in combined cash and food.
Newfoundland Power and Retired Workers: Through the volunteer services of their current and retired employees, Newfoundland Power plays a key role in the collection of food and money (loonies and townies) at the annual St. John's Santa Clause Parade.
School of the Eastern School District: Since 1989 the schools of the Eastern School District, in conjunction with VOCM and Metro Bus have worked together to generate more than 50,000 lbs of additional food for people who might otherwise go hungry during the Thanks Giving period.
Sobeys: In their role as a major sponsor of the Community Food Sharing Association Sobeys manages a major food drive in early to mid-fall which goes a long way towards stocking the shelves of food banks across the province. And the employees of Sobeys take a great deal of pride in their year round support for their local food bank through a range of community-based initiatives. And the public awareness they create through these efforts is worth so much more.
Tim Horton's: A solid supporter of the Community Food Sharing Association Tim Horton's takes the lead in a food drive in August, providing food and much needed public awareness through their stores at a critical time when food bank shelves are low after the summer.
VOCM/Metro Bus: Since 1989 VOCM and Metro Bus have worked together in conjunction with the Eastern School District to collect food for distribution during Thanks Giving generating more than 50,000 lbs of additional food for families during the Thanks Giving period.
Farm Credit Canada: We’re passionate about ending hunger. Since 2004, Farm Credit Canada has helped raise over 17 million pounds of food for food banks across Canada through FCC Drive Away Hunger
