October 16th, RBC hosted a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration at its new Kelsey Drive store. Store manager Debbie Bowering and her team hosted over 70 people. As part of the festivities, RBC unveiled an $18,000 donation to Community Food Sharing.
RBC now has 19 branches in Newfoundland and Labrador and in an effort to innovate and adapt its premises to better respond to customer needs, the Kelsey Drive location is RBC's first "retail store" in the province.
An RBC retail store offers a fresh take on the bank branch experience with interactive advice areas, "touch" or surface screen technology, and a more open area for customers. It is designed to better support customer's life events such as purchasing a home or saving for retirement, offering solutions to help clients make sound financial decisions.
"RBC is committed to helping organizations make a difference and inspire others, and we recognize the importance of strengthening the health and well being in communities where we do business," said Jeremy Storry, RBC Regional Vice President, Newfoundland and Labrador. "Community Food Sharing is making a real difference and its impact cannot be measured for some of the most vulnerable people in St. John's. We're very pleased to make this donation in recognition of our store opening."
